ROMEO AND JULIET
Toured: Nov - Dec 2021
The performance is aimed at whole year groups, and involves an experimental use of live theatre and film. The company has taken the step of combining live theatre with filmed elements so as to enhance the form as well as the content of Shakespeare’s play. This aesthetic and blended approach will transform the audience into the streets and homes of Romeo and Juliet’s Verona, while at the same time resonating with the streets and homes of the young audience's lives today.
“It was amazing. Firstly, the set helped our students settle into the setting and the era. The acting was excellent and helped our students understand the story better, explore the themes and think about life. Your team managed to focus all the students’ attention for long periods, which is very difficult to achieve with our students.”
— Lisa Baldwin, LSA at Queen Alexandra College, Birmingham
“Excellent performance, it skillfully communicated the characters feelings, thoughts and ideas. It helped develop pupils’ creative skills through new learning techniques. Pupils also developed a sense of empathy and tolerance and developed critical thinking skills, enabling pupils to question, respond and explain the characters choices and present solutions. It broadened minds and helped pupils to understand the context and attitudes towards society, science and religion.”
— Mrs N. Arshad, Teacher of English, Hodge Hill Girls School, Birmingham
