PRIMARY PROGRAMME - TOURING FROM APRIL 2017 - Rumpelstiltskin - The Straw Baby

An exciting new production from Big Brum for younger children....

Once there was a miller who was poor, but who had a beautiful daughter.
Now it happened that he had to go and speak to the king, and in order to make himself appear important he said to him,
"I have a daughter who can spin straw into gold!"

Touring to schools throughout the 2017 summer term, the award-winning Big Brum Theatre in Education Company presents a new version of the classic fairy tale. It has been designed for Years 2 - 4, but can be adapted for younger and older children. This is an exciting opportunity for your pupils to engage imaginatively with a classic text.

Big Brum's new version of 'Rumpelstiltskin' has been written on the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and asks deep questions about the value of a child's life.

The programme combines the performance of 'Rumpelstiltskin' with participatory workshops, taking your pupils on a journey that will liberate their imaginations. It will enable them to interact meaningfully within the drama, testing their own values in response to the unfolding story.

"It was amazing to witness the children immerse themselves in the drama and empathise with different characters. The skill with which the cast interacted with the children was a joy to watch and the experience will stay with the children for a long time." Charlotte Dean, Teacher, Pelsall Village School
